The body is a machine, that adjusts and adapts. Although we generally say that a red blood cell functions for an average of 120 days, and that the amount of omega-3 fatty acids we can “shove” into the already existing blood cells are limited, experience shows that people who on the onset have too low omega-3 index values will be able to raise them faster by doubling their omega-3 intake in the beginning. This can be because the “new blood cells” then incorporate more omega-3 fatty acids than they usually would. The same could be the case with other cells in the body. It is also known practice to prescribe a higher “loading-dose” of various medicines, such as antibiotics etc.
